Equal & Equitable Opportunities for Women in Olympic Canoe Racing

JUNE 2017 – International Olympic Committee approves 3 women’s canoe events for Tokyo 2020 – and a gender equal program!

The Sport of “Canoeing” debuted as an exhibition sport in the 1924 Olympics with 6 Sprint Canoe and Kayak events, for men only.  The sport became official in 1936. The Slalom discipline debuted in 1972. There have never been canoe events for women – until now. Thank you for joining the cause to change this!

Also in 2017, the ICF announced Canoeing will add 3 new events to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games: 2 men’s and 1 women’s Va’a events.

OUR MISSION: To inspire and enable women to achieve equality, equity and excellence in Olympic canoe racing by advocating for a complete range of development and racing opportunities locally, nationally and internationally. And, to promote and support paddlesport for recreation and as a way of life.
