How many years training in canoe?

4 years ago I started racing in c1 but began paddling 9 years ago in an open canoe. The first day on whitewater, I felt that it would be the biggest passion in my life.

How many days/week do you train in canoe?

6 days

Do you cross-train?

yes, in the winter months I skate ski, run, do weights, and I coach biathlon with my husband.

Who is your closest rival?

Every race is different. I focus on improving my results at every race.

Prior year accomplishments:

3 time national champion

8th at World Championships in 2010, Tacen

15th at World Championships in 2009

19th at World Championships in 2011

1st at Pam Ams in 2009

Goals for next season:

I got have an injury now, but I hope to be able come back as soon as possible

What is your message to the world regarding women in canoe?

Women should have the choice to canoe or kayak, the same as the men do, and also be given access to the same funding opportunities. As long as c1 is not a recognized Olympic discipline for women, things will remain unfair.

Who is your role model?

I’m really impressed with Jessica Fox. She’s young, strong and very good technically in c1.

How many years do you see yourself competing in canoe?

I’m not sure at the moment, but paddling is definitely a passion for me, and I will never stop paddling.
