The 2014 ECA Canoe Slalom Junior & U23 European Championships, which took place 3-6 July, 2014 in Skopje, Macedonia, proved to be another exciting and hotly contested event for women’s canoe.

Congratulations to Great Britain’s Mallory Franklin – Women’s C1 U23 European Champion! Fastest run of the day and even a two second penalty was enough to secure Gold. Spain’s Nuria Vilarrubla was 2.7 seconds behind with a clean final run to claim Silver. Czech Republic continues to show its overall podium dominance with another medal – Monika Jancova’s Bronze. Monika just barely snatched the Bronze away from Ukraine’s Viktoriia Dobrotvorska by .5 seconds.

Racing was tighter in the U23 Women’s C1-Team Final. Great Britain grabs the Gold, giving Mallory Franklin another Gold to add to her collection.

Congratulations to Czech Republic’s Martina Satkova on her dominating performance. Two of her teammates were also in the Final. Germany battled it out for silver and bronze, finishing in a near tie. Birgit Ohmayer snatched the silver and teammate Karolin Wagner claimed bronze.

Spain women canoeists destroyed the 9-team competition in the Junior C1 Team Final!

In all there were 13 countries on the line and 28 competitors. Great racing by all on a difficult course!
